As organizations across all industries navigate wave after wave of transformation, it is clear that talent plays an integral part in meeting every challenge they face. In 2020, the biggest challenge confronting the C-Suite was to ensure business continuity by re-inventing and adapting the organization to a new normal.  Remote working and a more employee-centric approach gained ground.  It highlighted the role of CHROs who were not only primarily responsible for leading employees through this transition period, but also had to ensure that the top leadership, particularly CEOs and Board Directors, were equipped to discharge their own duties.  

In 2024, as the workplace continues to evolve, and through current challenges from shareholder activism to global unrest, inflation, fallout from the pandemic, and the unknown impact of AI’s infiltration into the workplace, HR departments have become a key lever for survival, sustainability, and success. We live in a world where the tolerance for underperformance is low, and where the pressure to deliver is high.  Having the right people on the bus and the right people in the key seats is therefore critical.

Focusing on agility, embracing technological advancements, and fostering a dynamic workforce are critical ways that HR Leaders can prepare their organizations for the future.  Between demographic changes, shifting employee expectations, uncertainty in the economy, and widespread technology adoption, HR Leaders are being asked to wade into an unpredictable future to develop strategies to effectively build, nurture, and sustain the workforce to ensure continued sustainability and competitiveness.
