John Flaim
Global IP Chair

Mr. Flaim is the Global IP Chair for Baker & McKenzie. His practice encompasses patent and trademark litigation, counseling, licensing and prosecution matters. The primary focus of Mr. Flaim's practice is on intellectual property litigation. He has significant experience in patent litigation infringement actions in federal district courts and before the U.S. International Trade Commission. Many of the patents litigated by Mr. Flaim cover electrical and computer related technologies such as voice messaging, software, semiconductor processing and circuitry, smart cards, wireless and wireline telecommunication systems, and digital image editing. In the course of his practice, Mr. Flaim counsels clients regarding the infringement, validity and enforceability of patents, including the preparation of formal opinions concerning those issues. Mr. Flaim has assisted clients in complex licensing transactions, including those involving intellectual property assets involved in domestic and international mergers, acquisitions and transactions. Mr. Flaim has also prepared and prosecuted numerous patent applications for inventions in various technical disciplines before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
